Swabian virtues at world level

Jaxida –
quality recognised worldwide

Origins

From Denmark to the Swabian Alb

1992
Denmark

Jaxida Covers have their origins in Denmark. The company was founded in 1992 by our friend Verner Jaksland. His nickname “Jaxi” and the first letters of Denmark (“Danmark”) form the company name “Jaxida” – a good deal of personality right from the start.

2009
Münsingen, Swabian Alb

In 2009 Uli and Daniela Schwenk took over the Danish company Jaxida and relocated it to Münsingen in the biosphere reserve of the Swabian Alb – a region with a long tradition of masterful textile processing and the finest tailoring, particularly when it comes to meticulous quality of craftsmanship. History has dealt us a trump card here: top skilled workers for our exclusively hand-made, custom-fitted products.

The person behind it

Uli Schwenk: World Ambassador of Gliding

Uli Schwenk embodies passionate innovation, dependable continuity and reassuring quality – and sets a fine example by passing his experience on to the next generation. The now “well-matured” scion of a widely celebrated Swabian flying family sets the pace, and you can hear it, especially in his refreshingly hearty laugh. For decades he has worked with persistent Alb diligence, unconditional will and impressive creative energy. This flying blood leads to success: since 1988 he has taken part in national and international gliding competitions and championships with extraordinary, consistent results. He became German champion for the first time in 1992 and European champion in 1998. In 2014 came the logical consequence once again: third place at the World Grand Prix. Not to be overlooked: 12th place in the German glider pilot ranking, 28th in the world ranking of all glider pilots – and so on. Call it persistence or staying power; the one thing it is not is showmanship chasing short-term success.

Award 2007

World Ambassador of Gliding

Uli Schwenk as “World Ambassador of Gliding” – an award presented in 2007 by the organiser of the Grand Prix in Omarama. Congratulations! For him it is less a “public medal” than the quiet confirmation of being on the right (air)way. One might almost say: around the world in 80 days – it was the countless journeys and competitions around the globe in ever-changing aircraft types that shaped the man. A meaningful encounter and hard, formative daily work. In 1992, the year the Danish inventor Verner Jaksland founded the company, he was already its valued representative for what were even then the “world’s best” Jaxida Covers. Here he learned the product inside out; it “infected” him, so to speak, genetically. A solid understanding of a good product, paired with an endless curiosity for an even better one – that is what drives Uli Schwenk relentlessly onwards. Jaxida Cover and Uli Schwenk – always at eye level with the flying life.
